    Background:

    • Solitary maxillary cysts are uncommon intraosseous lesions of the jaw.
    • Review of current literature on diagnosis and management of these rare cysts.
    • Understanding the differential diagnosis for bone lacunae in the maxilla.

    Observation:

    • Diagnosis is suspected when non-dental bone lacunae are identified radiographically.
    • Surgical exploration reveals a typically unilocular cavity.
    • Cystic contents can be blood-stained fluid or the cavity may be empty.

    Findings:

    • Curettage is a sufficient treatment modality.
    • Bone grafting is not required for management.
    • No recurrence is observed after surgical intervention.
    • Rapid bone regeneration occurs post-curettage.

    Implications:

    • These cysts have a favorable prognosis after surgical management.
    • The probable dystrophic origin warrants further investigation.
    • Understanding these lesions aids in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for maxillary bone abnormalities.
