Abstract:
Fractures of the zygomatic arch may be in valgum or in varum, and are isolated or associated with facial bone fractures according to the point of impact. An extracranial image can be obtained by a modified Hirtz projection (ascending beam of 15 to 25 degrees entering between the two gonions, the receptor plane lying parallel to the orbitomeatal plane). Their outlines and the rupture points can thus be demonstrated, and a comparison made with the opposite side. This type of projection can be performed in the operating room.
