Secure closure of duodenal stump with staples

A modification of the GIA stapler is described that allows closure of a duodenal stump with four rows of staples without any sutures. This method of closing the duodenal stump is simple, quick and secure. It has been used successfully in 12 patients with no postoperative leaks.
