    Summary

    Catheter use during electrophysiology studies can cause temporary block in accessory pathways, a key feature of preexcitation syndrome. This highlights the need for caution during catheter placement to avoid misinterpreting these transient conduction abnormalities.

    • Block occurred during routine catheter placement and lasted 90 seconds to 14 hours.

    • Endocardial mapping confirmed pathway location in three patients.

    Implications:

    • Findings suggest caution is needed during electrode catheter studies.
