Abstract:
Serratia marcescens is a frequently recovered contaminant following major open injuries of the extremities. This paper presents two cases in whom this organism was identified as the primary pathogen. The importance of early diagnosis, thorough surgical debridement, and appropriate antibiotic therapy is emphasized.
