    Background:

    • Epididymovasostomy is a surgical procedure to restore patency of the vas deferens.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of microscopical splint epididymovasostomy in a rat model.
    • To assess the patency and sperm passage following splint epididymovasostomy.

    Main Methods:

    • A microscopical splint epididymovasostomy was performed on 23 rats.
    • Two types of splints were used: 5/0 polyglactic acid and 5/0 plain-catgut.
    • Patency was assessed 3 months post-surgery via electro-ejaculation and methylene blue dye test, with histopathological confirmation.

    • Spermatozoa were detected in the ejaculate of 12.5% of animals.
