Abstract:
The extravasation of cytotoxic drugs induces long lasting and painful skin ulcers. According to results of our experiments in rats, clinical observations and studies of other authors the best prophylaxis in preventing skin ulcers seems to be at present the immediate local instillation of heparin solution as well as hydrocortisone or dexamethasone solution. After the occurrence of cytotoxic drug induced skin ulcers the use of fibrin glue (Tisseel) has proven to be very successful in treating skin ulcers of our patients.
