Direct effects of endotoxin on the microcirculation
Summary
Endotoxin infusion in dogs caused leukocyte margination and endothelial cell thickening, leading to thrombi formation and red blood cell leakage. This microcirculatory damage significantly lowered blood pressure, even at low doses.
