    Human red blood cells (erythrocytes) possess significant proteolytic activity within their membranes, distinct from white blood cells (leukocytes). This membrane-bound enzyme activity is a key finding for understanding erythrocyte function.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the proteolytic activity present in human erythrocyte membrane fractions.
    • To characterize the properties of the enzyme responsible for this activity.
    • To determine if a similar enzyme exists in human leukocytes.
