    Purpose of the Study:

    • To test the hypothesis that ascorbic acid can pharmacologically control large bowel adenomas.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of ascorbic acid in patients with polyposis coli.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
    • 49 patients with polyposis coli were enrolled over two years.
    • Ascorbic acid (3 g/day) or placebo was administered, with follow-up assessments.

    Main Results:

    • A statistically significant reduction in polyp area was observed in the ascorbic acid group at nine months (P < 0.03).
