Prostatic carcinoma metastatic to choroid

Background:

Prostatic carcinoma can metastasize to the choroid, potentially causing significant vision loss.
Metastatic choroidal tumors present a therapeutic challenge in advanced prostate cancer management.

Observation:

A patient with metastatic prostatic carcinoma of the choroid received orchidectomy and estrogen therapy.
Close monitoring revealed a rapid regression of the choroidal tumor over two months.

Findings:

The choroidal tumor became clinically undetectable following hormonal manipulation.
Significant visual improvement was observed, with visual acuity returning to 6/6 from 6/60, and visual field was restored.

Implications:

Hormonal manipulation demonstrates a dramatic and effective response in treating choroidal metastases from prostate cancer.
The lack of complications associated with this therapy supports its role as a preferred initial treatment modality.
