    Area of Science:

    • Endocrinology
    • Oncology

    Background:

    • Thyroid follicular carcinoma is a common well-differentiated thyroid cancer.
    • Hyperthyroidism can arise from various thyroid pathologies.

    Observation:

    • An unusual case of T3 hyperthyroidism was observed.
    • This was linked to a well-differentiated thyroid follicular carcinoma.
    • A large skull metastasis was a significant feature.

    Findings:

    • The thyroid cancer and its skull metastasis were the source of excess thyroid hormone.
    • Iodine deficiency was identified as a potential single major etiological factor.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights a rare presentation of thyroid cancer with hyperthyroidism.
    • It underscores the potential role of iodine deficiency in both thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism development.
