Extradural ependymomas are rare tumors. This report details a rare spinal canal case, highlighting diagnostic imaging and treatment outcomes.

Background:

Extradural ependymomas are rare neoplasms.
Most commonly arise in the presacral soft tissues.
Less frequently occur in the sacrococcygeal region or extradural spinal canal.

Observation:

This report presents a rare case of extradural ependymoma within the spinal canal.
Detailed myelographic and computed tomographic (CT) findings at diagnosis are provided.
Imaging findings post-therapy are also documented.

Findings:

Extradural ependymomas can recur if not completely excised.
Distant metastases from these tumors have been reported.
The natural history of extradural ependymomas is consistent regardless of location.
