[Anatomical problems in prevention of pulmonary embolism (author's transl)]

The prevention of recurrent pulmonary embolism by caval clip or intracaval filter may be difficult when the infrarenal segment of the inferior vena cava is double or left sided. Two such cases of anatomical variations are reported.
