Sterilization failure. An analysis of 27 pregnancies after a previous sterilization procedure
Abstract:
The occurrence of 27 cases of pregnancy subsequent to 3105 postpartum sterilizations indicates the limitations of the methods employed at Paarl Hospital. The failure rate per 1000 operations was 9,54 with fimbriectomy and 11,22 with the Pomeroy method. The overall failure rate was 8,70. The justification for legal termination in such cases is discussed.
