Insights
This 1979 Vienna health study analyzed blood parameters in over 2,500 adults aged 25, 40, and 60. Findings on key health indicators like cholesterol and blood glucose were documented and discussed.
Area of Science:
- Public Health and Preventative Medicine
- Clinical Biochemistry
- Epidemiology
Background:
- A comprehensive health survey was conducted in Vienna in 1979.
- The study aimed to assess various physiological parameters in a large cohort.
- Focus on age-related health indicators across different adult age groups.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate a wide range of blood parameters in a representative population sample.
- To establish baseline data for key biochemical markers in different age strata.
- To analyze and discuss the findings in relation to general health status.
Main Methods:
- Cross-sectional study involving over 2,500 individuals.
- Participants were categorized into three age groups: 25, 40, and 60 years.
- Analysis of blood parameters including erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum iron, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), HbA1, uric acid, cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, AP, creatinine, BUN, and routine urine analysis.
Main Results:
- Detailed results for all investigated blood parameters (erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum iron, OGTT, HbA1, uric acid, cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, AP, creatinine, BUN) were compiled.
- Clinical urine findings were systematically recorded.
- The study provides a comprehensive dataset of biochemical and physiological markers for the studied population groups.
Conclusions:
- The study successfully collected and presented extensive data on blood parameters and urine findings.
- The findings contribute to the understanding of health indicators across different adult age groups.
- Further discussion and interpretation of the results are provided.
Abstract:
In the course of a health study carried out 1979 in Vienna on more than 2,500 persons at the age of 25, 40 and 60 years respectively, the following blood parameters were investigated: erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum iron, OGTT, HbA1, uric acid, cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, AP, creatinine, BUN; furthermore the usual clinical urine findings. Results are exposed and discussed.
