[Velour prosthesis in fractures and luxations in the clavicular region. A follow-up study]

Twelve patients were followed up 6-40 months after implantation of a velours prosthesis due to trauma involving the clavicle. On the X-rays of the ten patients with a coracoclavicular loop there was a marked bone erosion in the area where the graft crossed the clavicle, and three patients had clinical symptoms as well. The use of a coracoclavicular velours prosthesis calls for a careful clinical and radiographic follow-up, and an early second operation for total or partial removal of the prosthesis if signs of bone erosion occur.
