The superficial temporal artery island flap in ear reconstruction
British Journal of Plastic Surgery
|April 1, 1982
Abstract:
In total ear reconstructions necrosis of the overlying skin may develop shortly after insertion of the implant "framework" whether this be cartilage, bone or synthetic material. In certain cases an island flap based on the superficial temporal artery can provide immediate cover and save the reconstructed ear from impending disaster.
