Summary

Intervertebral disc calcification, identified as calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) and dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) crystals, was prevalent in 57% of cadavers. These deposits occurred without prior history of articular chondrocalcinosis.
