    Background:

    • Twinning and conjoined placentation are phenomena of interest in developmental biology.
    • Understanding the incidence and potential causes of conjoined placentation is crucial for reproductive research.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate spontaneous and experimentally induced conjoined placentation in Swiss-Webster (SW) mice.
    • To determine the rates of conjoined placentation in twins and triplets.
    • To explore methods for increasing twin yield and inducing conjoined placentation.

    Main Methods:

    • Observation of spontaneous conjoined placentation in SW mice.
    • In vitro culture of mouse blastocysts.
    • In utero treatment with vincristine during early postimplantation development.
