The Journal of Rheumatology
|March 1, 1982
Abstract:
A young black woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who developed acute gouty arthritis of her great toe is described. The association of these 2 rheumatic diseases has been rarely reported. Factors that may be responsible for the unusual coexistence of SLE and gout are discussed. Crystal-associated arthritis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute oligoarthritis in SLE.
