Therapeutic effect of dopamine infusion on human malignant melanoma
Abstract:
Dopamine is a novel antitumor agent that has shown activity against B16 melanoma. Four patients with advanced malignant melanoma were infused with dopamine at 20 micrograms/kg/min for 48--120 hours. Tumor and bone marrow samples were obtained before and after treatment for comparison. Each of the patients tested showed significant reduction in the labeling index of tumor cells following treatment. These results suggest that dopamine is capable of attaining cytotoxic levels necessary to induce a biochemical inhibition of human malignant melanoma.
