    Area of Science:

    • Veterinary Pathology
    • Oncology
    • Internal Medicine

    Background:

    • Thymomas are neoplasms of the thymus gland.
    • Feline thymoma diagnosis and clinical presentation require further investigation.

    Observation:

    • Eleven feline thymomas were diagnosed, with 10 benign and 1 malignant.
    • Six cats exhibited dyspnea due to tumor pressure or effusion.
    • Associated conditions included chylous effusion, polymyositis, myocarditis, and generalized dermatitis.

    Findings:

    • Thymoma can present with diverse clinical signs beyond respiratory compromise.
    • Polymyositis and severe dermatitis were observed in conjunction with thymoma.
    • Malignant thymoma was associated with satellite lesions and effusion.

    Implications:

    • Highlights the varied clinical manifestations of feline thymoma.
    • Suggests considering thymoma in cats with unexplained polymyositis or dermatitis.
    • Emphasizes the importance of thorough diagnostic workup for feline thoracic masses.
