[Hydatid cyst of the neck. One case]
Abstract:
Hydatid cyst presents rarely as a cervical tumour and otorhinolaryngological and maxillofacial sites of hydatid disease remain very rare. The authors report a case of hydatid cyst of the neck in a patient with multifocal hydatid disease. This cyst developed in the soft tissue of the neck within lymph node tissue without any connection with the parotid, thyroid nor muscles. Treatment consisted of pericystectomy after destruction of the parasite using a formal solution. A cyst of the right lung had been treated one month earlier during a first operative stage. Long term surveillance of such patients relies upon serology.
