[Dominant infantile macular degeneration]

In view of its dominant mode of inheritance this condition is to be distinguished from Stargardt Macular degeneration, which - as is known - is transmitted autosomal-recessively. In the fluorescein angiogram a central degenerated area can be seen, whereas the peripheral areas of the fundus are not involved. For this reason dominant infantile degeneration of the macula is a separate condition and should be included in the differential diagnosis of macular degenerations.
