    Background:

    • Pheochromocytoma is a rare cause of hypertension.
    • Essential hypertension (EH) pathophysiology remains incompletely understood.
    • Dopamine (DA) metabolism may play a role in cardiovascular regulation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the role of dopamine and catecholamines in patients suspected of pheochromocytoma but ultimately diagnosed with essential hypertension.
    • To characterize plasma and urinary catecholamine profiles in essential hypertensive patients.

    • Analysis of plasma and urinary levels of conjugated and free dopamine (DA), norepinephrine (NE), and epinephrine (E) in hypertensive patients and controls.
