    Summary

    Rectal progesterone suppositories, even in high doses, show significant variations in plasma levels among individuals. However, two different formulations did not yield significantly different average progesterone concentrations.

    Background:

    • Rectal administration of progesterone is sometimes recommended for specific gynecological conditions.
    • High doses of progesterone may be used in certain therapeutic contexts.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate plasma progesterone concentrations following rectal administration of two different suppository formulations.
    • To assess interindividual variability in progesterone absorption via the rectal route.
