    Area of Science:

    • Dermatology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (AH E) is a rare, benign skin condition.
    • The etiology of AH E remains unknown.
    • This condition predominantly affects females in the Western Hemisphere, typically manifesting on the head and neck.

    Observation:

    • Microscopic examination reveals characteristic features.
    • These include infiltration of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue by chronic inflammatory cells, particularly eosinophils.
    • Neocapillary formation and lymphohistiocytic hyperplasia are also observed.

    Findings:

    • The histological findings are diagnostic for Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia.
    • Key microscopic features include eosinophilic infiltration, neocapillary proliferation, and lymphoid hyperplasia.

    Implications:

    • Accurate diagnosis based on characteristic histopathology is crucial.
    • Complete surgical excision is the recommended and effective treatment modality for AH E.
    • Understanding the histopathological hallmarks aids in differentiating AH E from other skin lesions.
