Computed tomographic arteriography as a guide for embolization of widespread hemangioma

The angiographic work-up of a hemangioma is the most valuable diagnostic modality for the assessment of the extent of tumor and identification of feeding vessels. Occasionally, however, the angiographic findings are inconclusive. It is the purpose of this article to describe a case in which prior to embolization of a widespread subcutaneous and deep hemangioma, computed tomographic arteriography (CTA) was employed to identify the vessel feeding a portion of the tumor which had penetrated the retroperitoneal space causing increasing distress to the patient.
