    • Initial diagnostic imaging may not reveal all potential complications.

    Observation:

    • Four patients with head trauma underwent serial Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT) scans.
    • Initial CAT scans were normal, showing no acute intracranial abnormalities.

    Findings:

    • Tardive development of intracerebral and extradural hematomas was observed in all four patients.
    • Hematomas appeared significantly later than the initial trauma and diagnostic scans.

    Implications:

    • Repeated post-traumatic CAT scanning is crucial for detecting delayed complications.
    • Understanding the pathogenesis of late-developing hematomas is essential for patient management.
