The use of Healon in anterior chamber lens implantation
Abstract:
The usefulness of sodium hyaluronate (Healon) in primary and secondary intraocular lens implantation was evaluated. Fourteen eyes in which Healon was instilled before and after cataract extraction developed less corneal edema and showed lower mean endothelial cell losses than 20 control eyes undergoing surgery without Healon. There were fewer complaints of discomfort during the first two postoperative weeks in the Healon group. Mean intraocular pressure was not significantly different between Healon and control groups.
