[Cervical cancer: psychology and sexuality (author's transl)]

Psychological distress is the main initial factor in patients with cervical carcinoma: reassurance is the first problem for the physician. Secondly, the distress related to possible sexual disorders arises. Culpability is the common persistent substratum of this trouble; admitted or not admitted by the patient, it is in relation to previous sexual activity. At this time, before the treatment, explanation and reassurance future function is needed. After treatment, dyspareunia, with or without an organic basis, is the basic sexual problem activity; at this key phase, it is necesseray to incite the patients to restart normal sexual activity. Later, if sexual troubles exist, their decrease is more questionable; but it persistence is needed.
