    Background:

    • Secretory otitis media (SOM) is a common condition in children.
    • The role of viruses in the etiology of SOM remains unclear.
    • Previous studies have yielded negative results in isolating viruses from the middle ear in SOM cases.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the potential role of viral infections in the development of secretory otitis media.
    • To attempt viral isolation from middle ear mucosa, pharynx, and nasopharynx in pediatric patients with SOM.

    • Viral isolation techniques were employed on samples from fifty children diagnosed with SOM.
