[Determination of parenterally infused xylitol during labor and after surgery]

The mean maximal turnover capacity for intravenously infused xylitol was determined in women during parturition and after surgery. Although both conditions are considered as stress situations, the values for maximal turnover differed by 100%. The mean maximal turnover under labour was 0.31 g/kg/h compared to 0.76 g/kg/h on the first day after surgery.
