Effect of transportation on sexual behavior of cats
Abstract:
Transportation of an established feline colony approximately 1500 miles did not inhibit the resumption of behavioral reproductive cyclicity. Estrous behavior was observed as early as 18 days following shipment and mean duration of these first post-transfer estrous periods was normal. Relocation appeared to induce a synchronizing effect on behavioral cyclicity, since 76.2% and 42.9% of the population exhibited estrous onset during Days 18--31 and Days 24--26 respectively, following transport.
