Removal of the horny layer does not stimulate cell proliferation in neonatal mouse epidermis
Abstract:
Mechanical treatment of newborn mouse back skin by removal of the horny layer does not stimulate DNA synthesis and mitotic activity. These results are discussed in connection with recent experiments with newborn and adult mouse epidermis, and reveal further evidences for the ontogenetic development of an endogenous growth control (chalones).
