[Cytohormonal studies in cervical cancer]

The karyopyknotic and eosinophilic indices of 40 premenopausal patients with cervical cancer, maturation index in 79 cases of the same disease and in 20 healthy postmenopausal females were determined. The cytohormonal indices in the patients were decreased during the first half of menstrual cycle and increased during the latter half. An anovular cycle was registered in 8 patients. The cytohormonal indices in postmenopausal patients were significantly higher than in controls. Hormonal stimulation proved to be higher in case of poorly-differentiated cell tumors than in patients with keratinizing squamous-cell tumors. However, in the latter cases, it was higher than in those with non-keratinizing cancer.
