    Summary

Superselective transcatheteral embolization effectively treated a massive calyciform pseudodiverticulum bleed. A butyl-2-cyanoacrylate and lipiodol mixture achieved permanent vascular occlusion using microcatheters.

    Area of Science:

    • Interventional Radiology
    • Vascular Surgery

    Background:

    • Calyciform pseudodiverticulum presents a rare but significant bleeding risk.
    • Traditional treatment options for such lesions can be limited.

    Observation:

    • A small, massively bleeding calyciform pseudodiverticulum was identified.
    • Superselective transcatheteral embolization was chosen as the intervention.

    Findings:

    • Butyl-2-cyanoacrylate mixed with lipiodol was utilized as the embolisate.
    • This technique allowed for permanent vascular occlusion.
    • The embolisate was delivered via microcatheters using a coaxial technique.

    Implications:

    • This approach offers a minimally invasive solution for challenging vascular malformations.

    Related Experiment Videos

  • The use of butyl-2-cyanoacrylate provides durable occlusion.
  • The technique is suitable for treating small, actively bleeding lesions.
