Abstract:
Concerning postoperative intensive care newborns are exposed to an increased risk of infection. The germ-spectre has now changed to gram-negative bacteria, but the number of infections by staph. aureus and Candida albicans has also increased. Our epidemiological investigations refer to the danger of contaminated medico-technical devices. All invasive methods in newborns must be strongly indicated.
