    Summary

    This study found that low-dose ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone combination pills have minimal impact on liver function tests in healthy women. Liver function tests showed a low incidence of abnormalities during two months of use.

    Background:

    • To evaluate the effect of a low-dose oral contraceptive containing 35 mcg ethinyl estradiol and 0.4 mg norethindrone on liver function tests.
    • To compare the incidence of liver function abnormalities with previously reported higher-dose OCs.
