[A suction irrigation endoscope for surgery of the sinuses and skull base (author's transl)]

For optimal transnasal surgery of the paranasal sinuses or of the skull base, free endoscopic exposure of the operative field is necessary. In our experience, use of instrumentation adjacent to the endoscope allows better removal of tissue specimens in contrast to the use of smaller forceps placed through the endoscope itself. A suction irrigation endoscope is described which allows manipulation under direct endoscopic control, but without disturbance by blood or secretions.
