Urinary immunoglobulin A in the diagnosis of bladder cancer

Urinary immunoglobulin A levels were measured in the urine of 13 patients with histologically diagnosed bladder cancer present, six patients with culture proven urinary tract infection, and 14 control individuals. There were statistically significantly higher immunoglobulin A levels in the urine of patients with bladder cancer than in either individuals with urinary tract infection or control individuals. Urinary immunoglobulin A may be a potentially useful test for the diagnosis and follow-up of bladder cancer patients.
