    Summary

    Lamella-particle complexes, resembling those in blood cancers, were found in placental pericytes. Their presence in human placentas is infrequent and its cause remains unknown.

    Background:

    • Lamella-particle complexes are characteristic of human hematopoietic malignancies.
    • Pericytes are crucial cells in placental villi, regulating blood flow and maternal-fetal exchange.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the presence and morphology of lamella-particle complexes in human placental pericytes.
    • To determine if these complexes correlate with pregnancy complications or patient factors.

    • Human placental tissues from normal and complicated pregnancies were examined using electron microscopy.
