Obstruction of the ureteropelvic junction: assessing renal function by percutaneous nephrostomy

This case simply illustrates two points. First, placement of a percutaneous nephrostomy permits detailed, serial evaluation of renal function in obstruction. Second, surprisingly high levels of renal function may remain in severely, chronically hydronephrotic kidneys.
