    Summary

    Conservative management of pancreatic pseudocysts is safe and effective, with no deaths related to the cyst in nonoperative patients. Early intervention for biliary disease may reduce pseudocyst incidence.

    Background:

    • Pancreatic pseudocysts are a common complication of pancreatitis.
    • Management strategies range from conservative observation to surgical intervention.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To review the outcomes of pancreatic pseudocyst management over a decade.
    • To evaluate the efficacy and complication rates of different treatment modalities.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of 107 patients with pancreatic pseudocysts.
    • Analysis of conservative management, exploration, external drainage, needle aspiration, and internal drainage (including cystojejunostomy).

    Main Results:

    • Overall mortality rate was 11.2%, with deaths attributed to sepsis unrelated to pseudocysts.
