    Summary

    Murine sarcoma virus transformed three tumor cell lines from mice, revealing they express Qa2 antigens but not Ly1 or Ly2. This Qa2+ phenotype suggests immature lymphoid cells are susceptible to viral transformation.

    Background:

    • Murine sarcoma virus (MSV) is known to induce tumors in mice.
    • BALB/cBy mice are a common model for studying MSV-induced sarcomas.
    • The Qa2 and Ly surface antigens are important markers in mouse immunology.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To establish and characterize tumor cell lines from MSV-infected BALB/cBy mice.
    • To analyze the expression of Qa2 and Ly surface antigens on these newly established cell lines.
    • To investigate the implications of the observed cell surface phenotype on lymphoid cell transformation.

    Main Methods:

    • Isolation and establishment of three murine sarcoma cell lines (BOMS, ORA I, Thorbly I).
    • Cytofluorograf analysis to detect surface antigen expression.
    • Absorption techniques to confirm antigen presence or absence.

    Main Results:

    • All three cell lines (BOMS, ORA I, Thorbly I) were found to be Qa2 positive (Qa2+).

    • This study provides insights into the immunophenotypic changes associated with viral oncogenesis in lymphoid cells.
