[Pathophysiology, clinical aspects and therapy of gastro-esophageal reflux disease]

The motility disturbances nd chemical factors which produces reflux oesophagitis and the findings which establish Barrett's oesophagus as a potential precancerous lesion are briefly reviewed. Controlled trials on the medical treatment of reflux oesophagitis are reported.
