Summary

Voltage-dependent calcium (Ca) currents are crucial in excitable membranes, generating Ca spikes in some cells and contributing to action potentials in others. Studying Ca channel selectivity and biophysics is challenging due to difficulties in measuring Ca reversal potential and separating Ca currents from background currents.
