Abstract:
Pathophysiology and clinic of acute renal failure (so called shock kidney) are described. In this connection the bilateral ischemic necrosis of the renal cortex is mentioned; it can be considered as an acute renal failure complicated by a consumption coagulopathy. Conservative therapy and treatment with an artificial kidney are outlined. The most common methods to correct acidosis, hyperkalemia and over-hydration are discussed.
