MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) gives an evaluation of personality traits from one's positions relative to 550 items - short forms of the inventory may allow an estimate of reduced number of scales from a reduced number of items. This study describes the logical background of the selection and scoring of an arbitrarily defined short form of the MMPI. The use of the inventory via an interactive processor, much more effective than the commonly used item sets and manual scoring, is contributing to its development outside the clinical field.
